Iceland: This region is called "Beyond the Wall" in the series and it is very appropriate to refer to a place so inhospitable and attractive at the same time. Many of the scenes of Game of Thrones are filmed on Vatnajökull, one of the largest glaciers in the world with over 8,000 km2.
