One of the places on earth with the best sceneries is the region of Tuscany. Anchored in the northwest of Italy it is a land that equally combines rural landscape with history and culture. Famous for films like Life Is Beautiful or Under the Tuscan Sun , the area has been able to exploit the fame gained by offering visitors a unique and unforgettable experience . Moreover, precisely because of its rural nature full of intimate villages , it is an adequate place to be visited by car, although we have arrived at it by plane. But what is the best way to visit Tuscany?
Our flight will normally arrive at Pisa as it is the third airport in Italy after Rome and Milan. Of course you have to take the opportunity to start tourism in the city itself , visiting the famous leaning tower and the Field of Miracles . This activity will not take more than a day and it will help us to get the needed strength to face the next few days .
From here, the ideal is to get a rental car and venture towards Lucca and Viareggio after which we can also get to Montecatini Terme. The aim of this day trip is to get to Florence, the jewel of the region and a city you must go prepared for a stay of 3 or 4 days. The points of interest are especially the Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral, the Campanile and the Baptistery , Piazza della Signoria where the Palazzo Vecchio is the current city hall and not forgetting the Ponte Vecchio , the oldest bridge in Europe .
From here it begins the slow return to Pisa airport for which the best way is by Siena , the second city of the region in population and another destination to visit some monuments, churches and unforgettable museums. One day in the city will be enough , then we can spend another day to visit Volterra and San Gimignano, the first one is famous for being the setting of the film New Moon, from Twilight saga.
Our tour dies in its starting point , the city of Pisa. A week to make the most of the people , landscapes and culture of an ancient region that should be visited at least once in a lifetime.
