Ten novice traveler mistakes you should not make (part III)
We close this series of posts about novice most widespread practices that we could make when travelling. If in previous posts we talked about not leaving decisions to the last minute, about overloading the suitcase with clothes that we won't use or planning too many activities , what other mistakes can we make?
Looking like a tourist
They are easily identifiable in our streets. A tourist usually wears a backpack, a camera in one hand and a map in the other. Their clothing also betrays them. Is this good? Although it is useful if we want to meet other tourists, when we are labelled this way it often brings us more problems than benefits. Pickpockets tend to be more focused on such travelers, and probably even the locals are reluctant to assist us.
Shall we eat there?
Another major mistake is having a meal in the less desirable places. In this regard there are two novice practices you should not follow. One is to go to restaurants prepared for tourists, it is possible that they have an ideal setting so we find what we expect to, but mostly, they are more topical than typical restaurants, for they are not the kind of restaurants customary in the place. If we want to taste what they eat in the area, let us have a look at local citizens and let's go where they go.
Better the devil you know
Let's go on with the topic of restaurants, as another bad habit is to go to places that we know from our country or city of origin. Many times they are fast food restaurants. True, it is a very desirable solution when we do not trust what we find in the native stores, but will we travel hundreds or even thousands of miles away to eat the same burger we have at home?
What a great time I had...
Here it goes the last avoidable practice. It has more to do with the return than to the trip itself . Seriously, we love you have been to Brazil, London and China, but you don't need to talk about it all the time. The rest who is listening also travel, and if they don't, they may feel envy for being unable to afford it, either way, if our friends want information they will tell us, so let's not bother them with our adventures.
These are our ten novice traveler mistakes we should not make, we hope they have been helpful to you, or at least that you have identified yourselft with some of them at some point in your life. Although we are convinced that you can also think of other common mistakes, do you want to discuss them with us?
