We have often heard about fascinating cities like Paris or Rome who have occupied a privileged place in ancient history and that, for decades, have been viewed as living monuments of our past. However, they are not the only historical gems, there are near large cities that have a much longer and relevant history. We are talking about Turkey, its past goes back to much earlier times. In Turkey we will know not only the ancient history of mankind, but also we will enjoy one of the most beautiful and complete places in the Mediterranean.
There is a lot to see in Turkey, probably much more than the lenght of our stay will allow us to see. One of the cities that we cannot overlook is Antalya, located on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey. It is the capital of the province of Antalya and it gives its name to one of the largest bays of the Turkish coast, the Gulf of Antalya. Its location indicates one of its greatest virtues: the coast and the beaches.
The Port of Antalya is a small corner of the city which mixes marine tradition with modernity, and there you can enjoy a relaxing walk through the warm streets and have a meal at sunset, watching the deep red and yellow sunset in this part of the city, a marvel.
The ruined city of Termessos, located 34 km west of Antalya in a rugged mountain valley, was founded by Solymi people, from within Anatolia. Its ruins are one of the mystic places of Antalya, the natural landscape mixed with the ruins and the deathly silence of the place makes us go back to the past of this city, an almost obligatory stop to enjoy the history of an extinct people. There is also a Corinthian-style temple in the area, the Temple of Zeus, the Lesser and Greater Temples of Artemis, the gymnasium and the watch towers. Besides this, there are over 1,200 rock tombs. A really tourist tour with which to spend an ideal day.
